 My senior year, I interned with Stoughton Media Access Corporation, helping with production and postproduction of many videos for various Stoughton High School Sports.

On October 22 both the men’s and women’s cross country teams brought home the Northeast-10 Conference Championship to Stonehill.             The men’s team ranked 15 th nationally had 6 of its runners finish in the top 20 of the 8-kilometer race with junior Alex Demeule leading the Skyhawks coming in fifth place. Senior captain James Murphy finished came in sixth place, finishing less than 2 seconds behind Demeule. This title becomes the men’s teams ninth in program history. “You never want to be the team that couldn’t come through… it’s awesome to be a part of the success,” Murphy said.             The women’s team ranked 23 rd nationally clinched their ninth straight Northeast-10 Championship and 16 th championship in program history. Though the season is still young, members of the Skyhawks Men’s Basketball team have their work cut out for them. Sitting in 5th place in the North East Division of the Northeast-10 Conference, the Skyhawks hold a record of 2-3 in conference and 3-5 overall. Comparatively, last season through 8 games, the Skyhawks had a 4-4 record, though 2-3 in the NE-10. Even with the loss of standout senior captains Ryan Logan and Jim Walsh, who both graduated in 2017, the Skyhawks seem to be keeping the pace with last year’s team. Filling in in Logan’s absence has been sophomore forward Will Moreton, from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Logan, who averaged almost 18 points per game, was the Skyhawks leading scorer and an all conference selection his final 3 years at Stonehill. In early September, the Trump administration announced their plans to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a decision that shocked many throughout the United States. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, was brought into existence during the Obama administration as a way to grant temporary amnesty for immigrants in the United States that were brought in as children. Children who were brought across the border were given the chance to receive an education and eventual employment in the United States. “DACA provided an opportunity to access some rights that a citizen would have” Constanza Cabello, Director of Intercultural Affairs, said. “People under DACA are referred to as dreamers,” Cabello said. As of 2017, there are close to 800,000 documented dreamers in the United States with countless more undocumented, all of whom are now at risk of losing their DACA status and getting deported. This semester, Stonehill welcomed the first ever varsity women’s golf team to campus.              Led by head coach Nick Crovetti, the team consists of only three student-athletes: sophomore Jennifer Kornacki, and freshmen Francesca Feola and Katelyn Jylkka.              The process to create this team was started over three years ago but only reached fruition this semester giving new opportunities to prospective Stonehill student-athletes.              “I wasn’t planning on golfing in college,” Feola said, “I couldn’t pass up the offer,” when the Stonehill team was announced last fall.             It was a different story for Kornacki, who came to Stonehill without knowing a women’s golf team would soon be created. “ I knew I wanted to c...

Anything but Normal ~ Two Perspectives on 9/11 ~                         I wonder if anyone even knows, Paul Bernotas thought to himself as he drove the fifteen-minute ride to his office in Natick, Massachusetts.             September 11 was his birthday, 43 years old. It also happened to be the one-year anniversary of his new job. He’d been an architect for the small firm, Design Management , for a whole year.             Bernotas walked up to his office, shortly before 9 a.m. not knowing whether to expect a big party or a congratulations banner.
